Kathua, May 21: The NSS Unit of Government Degree College Ramkote marked Anti-Terrorism Day on Wednesday by organizing a poster-making competition centered on the theme “Say No to Terrorism.”
Held under the supervision of Principal Dr. Rakesh Kumar Koul, the event aimed to spread awareness among students about the dangers of terrorism, pay tribute to victims, and promote peace, unity, and harmony. Anti-Terrorism Day is observed annually on May 21 across India to commemorate the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in 1991.
Fifteen students from BA Semester-2, including Nitakshi Devi, Kriti Devi, Sonali Sharma, Tania Sharma, and others, participated in the competition, creating posters that conveyed strong messages of resilience and opposition to terrorism.
Addressing the students, Dr. Koul emphasized that Anti-Terrorism Day serves both as a day of remembrance and a reminder to uphold peace and vigilance. He encouraged youth to reject hate, resist radicalization, and commit to a peaceful and progressive society.
Following the competition, faculty members and students took an Anti-Terrorism Pledge aimed at discouraging violence and promoting national unity. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Prof. Anu Sharma, NSS Programme Officer, who stressed the importance of fostering patriotic values and civic responsibility. The principal applauded both students and organizers for their commitment to spreading awareness and national pride.
